Xiaomi Robot Vacuum S40

The Robot Vacuum S40 vacuums and mops in a single pass, with a dock that only recharges it. An LDS laser sensor scans the home in a 360° sweep and saves a floor map, so the Xiaomi Home app can schedule cleaning room by room, by zone, or exclude areas such as rugs. Mopping is done by a fixed pad under the robot, fed by a 270 ml tank adjustable across three flow levels; the main brush, with comb teeth and a V-shaped layout, is designed to cut down on hair and pet-fur tangling. The robot climbs thresholds up to 2 cm and returns to the dock on its own when the battery runs low.

Without a self-emptying dock, the 520 ml dust box is emptied by hand and the mop plate has to be detached and washed after every run; the plate does not lift on its own, so it must be removed before crossing rugs. The robot connects only to 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, and voice commands go through Alexa or Google Assistant on a separate device. It suits a first robot with a map and app scheduling, for someone willing to handle dust and pad by hand.
