G1 is a bipedal humanoid robot designed for research, software development and technical teaching, not for the home. Its body has 23 motors moving legs, torso and arms, and the arms end in force-controlled hands for grasping objects. Custom software development is not supported on this version: it requires the EDU variant, with additional compute modules, which is requested from the sales department.
It senses its surroundings with a depth camera and a 3D LiDAR, and takes voice commands through four microphones. The battery lasts about two hours and is replaced with a quick-release mechanism, without tools.
It is bought from the manufacturer's online shop. For anyone in Europe it is an import: shipping comes from China, and duties and customs clearance are the buyer's responsibility. Unitree does not list European distributors, so support and spare parts also fall to the manufacturer.
